Itinerary

3 Nights from Aswan to Luxor

Day 1: Arrival in Aswan – Aswan City Tour

Upon arrival at Aswan Airport or your hotel, you are met and assisted by a representative who accompanies you throughout your local experience. A private air-conditioned vehicle takes you through Aswan’s key landmarks, beginning with the High Dam, a modern engineering marvel that reshaped the Nile’s flow and safeguarded countless Nubian monuments.

The journey continues to the Unfinished Obelisk, still lying within the ancient granite quarry where it was abandoned due to a natural flaw—offering direct insight into ancient construction methods.

A motorized felucca then carries you across the Nile to Philae Temple, the sacred island sanctuary dedicated to Isis, which was relocated stone by stone to Agilkia Island. Optional sailing around Elephantine Island and the First Cataract reveals Aswan’s natural river formations.

Lunch is served at a local restaurant before you board your Nile cruise vessel for check-in. Dinner is enjoyed onboard, followed by an overnight stay in Aswan.

Meals: Lunch – Dinner

Day 2: Kom Ombo & Sailing to Edfu

After breakfast onboard, you travel north by private vehicle to Kom Ombo, approximately 45 km from Aswan. Here, you explore the Temple of Kom Ombo, uniquely designed as a perfectly symmetrical double temple honoring both Sobek, the crocodile god, and Haroeris, a form of Horus.

The visit includes its twin sanctuaries, hypostyle halls, and ritual chambers. You also visit the Crocodile Museum, which houses mummified crocodiles discovered in the temple vicinity.

Following lunch at a local restaurant, you rejoin the cruise as it sails along the Nile toward Edfu. The afternoon is spent gliding past sugarcane fields, riverside villages, and sandstone cliffs that define Upper Egypt’s landscape.

An onboard briefing prepares you for the next day’s visit. The vessel moors overnight in Edfu.

Meals: Breakfast – Lunch – Dinner

Day 3: Edfu Temple & Arrival in Luxor

After breakfast, you take a horse-drawn carriage into Edfu town for your visit to the Temple of Horus—the most completely preserved ancient temple in Egypt.

Inside, towering pylons, vast halls, and detailed inscriptions reveal the mythology of Horus and Seth as well as the rituals of the Ptolemaic period. The temple’s preservation allows access to nearly all of its original architectural levels, including the roof terraces.

Returning to the cruise, you continue sailing north toward Luxor. Lunch is served during the journey.

Upon arrival, you visit Luxor Temple on the East Bank, a monument shaped over centuries by rulers including Amenhotep III and Ramesses II.

Its grand colonnades, open courtyards, and sphinx-lined avenues illustrate the ceremonial heart of ancient Thebes. The cruise docks overnight in Luxor.

Meals: Breakfast – Lunch – Dinner

Day 4: Luxor West Bank & Departure

After breakfast and disembarkation, you cross to the West Bank of Luxor, the ancient necropolis of Thebes. Your visit begins in the Valley of the Kings, where three royal tombs reveal vivid wall paintings and sacred texts guiding pharaohs through the afterlife.

You continue to the Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari, an architectural masterpiece built into the cliffs and dedicated to one of Egypt’s most powerful female rulers.

A final stop is made at the Colossi of Memnon, two monumental statues that once guarded the entrance to a vast mortuary temple. After lunch, you are transferred to Luxor Airport or your hotel for departure

After the visit, you return to the vessel as it continues sailing toward Kom Ombo. In Kom Ombo, you explore a unique double temple dedicated jointly to Sobek, the crocodile god, and Haroeris, a form of Horus.
