Aswan is the slow city — the Nile at its widest and quietest, Philae Temple on its own island, and the pre-dawn road south to Abu Simbel. Every Aswan day tour is private and includes hotel pick-up from anywhere on the corniche or across the river on the west bank.

Why choose Aswan day tours with Min Travel

Aswan pays back time you give it. Half a day covers the High Dam, the unfinished obelisk in the granite quarries and Philae Temple. A full day adds a Nubian village visit, an afternoon felucca and dinner by the river. Two days lets you add Abu Simbel by road.

Abu Simbel — is it worth the 3am start?

Yes, once in a lifetime. Three hours south each way in a convoy through the desert, arriving just after sunrise when the light hits the four colossal statues at the entrance. The alternative is the 45-minute Cairo–Aswan flight, still $145 per person total but far easier on the sleep.

Felucca sailing on the Nile

Cheap ($15 per hour, up to six of you) and one of the better memories most guests bring home. Best at sunset from the Old Cataract dock, past Kitchener's Island and Elephantine Island.

When to visit Aswan

October to March. Aswan runs about 2°C hotter than Luxor, so by May it is unpleasant in the middle of the day. The Nile is spectacular year-round from an air-conditioned boat.

“Eight hours sounds long until you do it. Our guide read the room and gave us more time at the museum and less at the Valley Temple, which was exactly right.”

“Picked up from our hotel at 8 on the dot. Lunch was a proper local place, not a tourist canteen. No pressure to buy anything, anywhere, all day.”

“Ask for the extended version — the itinerary is generous but the sites deserve a bit longer. Everything else was flawless.”

Questions

Frequently asked questions

For most travellers it is a highlight of the whole trip. Abu Simbel is a pre-dawn drive south from Aswan, so the tour starts very early, but the scale of Ramses II's rock-cut temples justifies the effort. On a private tour your Egyptologist sets the departure to fit your schedule, and the entry ticket is included.

Aswan pays back the time you give it. Half a day covers the High Dam, the unfinished obelisk in the granite quarries and Philae Temple on its island. A full day adds a Nubian village visit and an afternoon felucca on the widest, calmest stretch of the Nile. If Abu Simbel is on your list, allow a separate early morning for it.

Philae sits on its own island, so the visit includes a short motorboat crossing from the jetty, which your private tour arranges. It is one of the most atmospheric temples in Egypt and a natural pairing with the High Dam and the unfinished obelisk on a half-day itinerary. The entry ticket and the transport are included.

Yes. Aswan is the best place in Egypt for a felucca, where the Nile is at its widest and quietest, and we build an afternoon sail into the full-day itinerary. It pairs well with a Nubian village visit for a slower, more local half of the day. Tell us your preferences and we will shape the private itinerary around them.

Our Aswan day tours include hotel pick-up from anywhere on the corniche or across the river on the west bank, as well as from Nile cruise boats moored in Aswan. Every tour is private, with a licensed Egyptologist and air-conditioned transport, priced per person in USD with the rate falling as your group grows.
