Every boat below sails the same stretch of Nile between Luxor and Aswan — the one that holds most of Egypt’s great temples. The itinerary is the same; the boat, the cabin and the food are what change.
All cruises include full board from embarkation, every shore excursion with a licensed Egyptologist, entry fees to every temple, and airport transfers at both ends.
Which direction should you sail?
Downstream from Aswan to Luxor takes three nights; upstream from Luxor to Aswan takes four. The four-night route gives you an extra evening on the river for roughly a third more.
When cruises sail
Year round. October to April is high season — cooler, busier and about 15% more. May to September is hot on deck but the boats are air-conditioned throughout and the price drops accordingly.

When to travel
October to April for the archaeology. May to September for the Red Sea, at roughly two-thirds of the price.
November – FebruaryPeak season. Luxor sits at 23–25°C, ideal for tombs and temples. Busiest and priciest — book about three months ahead.
March – April, October – NovemberOur own favourite. 29–35°C, noticeably thinner crowds, and prices below the December peak.
May – September41°C in Upper Egypt by lunchtime. Excellent for Hurghada and Sharm, hard work in the Valley of the Kings unless you finish by eleven.
Nights get cold8°C in Luxor in January is normal, and cruise sun decks are chilly after dinner. Bring a jacket — nobody expects to need one.

Most nationalities can get a visa on arrival or apply online before travelling. Your passport must be valid for at least six months from your arrival date.

The currency is the Egyptian pound (EGP). US dollars and euros are widely accepted at hotels and cruise boats; local shops and cafés want EGP.

Egypt is generally safe for tourists, especially in the main destinations. Standard travel-health precautions apply.

Egyptians are famously hospitable, and small courtesies go a long way. The below is the minimum.
PhotographyAsk before photographing people. Never photograph military or police installations.
RamadanSites stay open with shorter hours. Many restaurants close during the day; hotels serve normally.
AlcoholAvailable in hotels, cruise boats, and licensed restaurants. Not sold in supermarkets during Ramadan.
HagglingExpected at Khan El Khalili and the papyrus/perfume shops. Start at 40% of the asked price. Not expected at supermarkets, restaurants or hotels.

A felucca is a traditional wooden Egyptian sailing boat, powered by the wind and the current rather than an engine. A felucca cruise is the simplest, most peaceful way to be on the Nile — open deck, no motor noise, and the same river the pharaohs sailed.
Feluccas are simple by design: you sleep in the open air on cushioned mattresses on deck under blankets, and facilities are basic. It is an adventure and a highlight for the right traveller — if you prefer cabins and private bathrooms, a Dahabiya or a cruise boat suits you better, and we’ll say so honestly.
Most run one to two nights on the stretch around Aswan — enough to catch a sunset and a night under the stars. It is usually combined with a longer Egypt itinerary rather than taken on its own.
The boat with its crew, simple meals cooked on board, and the sailing itself. A guide, entrance fees to sites you visit on foot, and transfers are arranged around it as part of your wider trip. Tell us your dates and we build it in.
